The Hope Journey Community

The 101 Gathering, or sometimes called ”The Gathering” is Hope Journey’s annual all-hands assembly where vision meets accountability.

It is the moment each year when all cause teams present their strategic plans for the upcoming mission cycle, focused on the selected Mission Village.

This is not a ceremonial event. It is a working summit.

While many organisations have simple volunteer meetings, the 101Gathering is unique because it functions as a formal strategic assembly. It moves the Hope Journey from being an “online community” to a highly organized missionary force.

What Happens at 101Gathering

During the Gathering:

  • Each cause team presents its proposed initiatives for the year
  • Budgets, timelines, and impact targets are outlined
  • The community reviews, questions, and challenges the plans
  • Suggestions and refinements are made collectively
  • Final direction is aligned around the mission village

It is transparency in action.

Why It Matters

Many organizations operate behind closed doors. Hope Journey does the opposite.

101Gathering ensures:

  • Community participation in decision-making
  • Cross-team alignment and collaboration
  • Clear goals before execution begins
  • Accountability to the people we serve
  • Stronger, smarter mission planning

No hidden agendas. No isolated projects. One mission, one direction.

Who Attends

The Gathering is open to:

  • All Hope Journey members
  • Cause team leaders and volunteers
  • Community stakeholders
  • Partners and supporters

Participation is available both:

  • In person
  • Via livestream on the Hope Journey YouTube Channel
  • Through Google Meet for remote members

Everyone has a voice.

Location

The 101Gathering is traditionally held in Aburi, nestled in the mountains of the Eastern Region of Ghana — a setting that reflects reflection, clarity, and renewed focus for the year ahead.

The Outcome

By the end of the Gathering, we leave with:

  • Refined, community-approved plans
  • Clear execution roadmaps
  • Defined accountability structures
  • Unified commitment to the selected Mission Village

The 101Gathering sets the tone for everything that follows.

Why “All-Hands” Matters

It is the one time of the year where the Trustees Group, the Executive Team, and the General Volunteers are all in the same room. It ensures that the person packing a Hope Bag understands the spiritual vision of the HopeDiary team, and the doctors in St. Luke’s are aligned with the 5Loaves nutrition goals.
